Hi, I’m Jeramy
I’m a designer and adventurer currently based in Raleigh, NC.
soccer player, outdoors enthusiast, serial chips and salsa eater.
Always strive to be the hardest worker in the room.
I want to give you a more in depth look into how i
think through my own personal branding and how it
is a reflection of my values as a designer and personal
qualities as a very detail oriented, research driven,
and passionate creative.
I have always been immersed in art since i was young, traveling with my parents across the country on their trips. I learned a great respect for other people, cultures, art, and how all of these thing communicated together and with one another. After years of immersive study in the arts, I found design to be an extremely effective tool for communicating and helping others communicate with the world around them. This is where my true passion for Human-Centered Design begins
Jeramy Roche-Champion
I knew from the beginning of my design process that i wanted to incorporate both of my last names and their meaning into a cohesive brand that truly represents me. As a strong believer in honoring those who come before us, I knew that I wanted to honor my father and my last name ‘Champion’, and for that to be a primary visual in my branding. After months of research, family interrogation, and ancestory.com assistance, I carefully plotted the ancestry on both sides of my family as far back as possible.
Roche- A last name on my mother’s side that I have grown up knowing to be from Irish descent. Through my research I found that the last name ‘Roche’ actually started appearing in Ireland and France around the same time. This was less a matter of coincidence and more a matter of the Normans(Vikings) spreading their names as they conquered more land.I then expanded my research and exploration into how the Norman’s communicated. I discovered the primary form of communication was with Runes—a mark or letter carved into something which then gave it a mysterious or magical significance.
Champion- a person who has defeated or surpassed all rivals in a competition or a person who fights/argues for a cause or on behalf of someone else. Also at the root of the definition is the word ‘warrior’.
After researching existing symbols and finding that the word ‘Champion’ did not exist as a rune, I discovered the rune that meant warrior, which appears as an upward pointing arrow.
I then sketched HUNDREDS of my own runes to eventually arrive at a lettered form that is true to how traditional runes are made. It is a form that still holds the symbolism and meaning of 'warrior’ while offering a striking way to present my initials.
The final dynamic logo is a lettered set of customized runes that spells Champion while carrying the cultural and historical meaning of my other last name, Roche.
